In class, we have been learning about narrative writing. This writing is guided writing.

One day in Te Moana Nui A Kiwa on the island of Hawaiki there lived a man called Kupe, a muscular warrior with a topknot and a hairy chest. The island was small. Lush tropical trees covered the island. When he stepped off the boat it was windy, the sand wept him on his legs, with his taiaha firmly in his hands Kupe surveyed the empty ocean. The island had welcomed Kupe.
“ This island is too cramped, there isn't enough space for us,” Kupe said to Ngahue.” Ae! “Te wheke is eating all of the kai” ngahue declared. Te wheke was a greedy huge octopus and it was muturangi pet. Te wheke was eating all of the kupes fish. “I saw the wheke heading north,” said one of the men. For weeks the warriors pursued Te wheke. The chase was hard. The rain pelleted
Down and the wind rocked Matawhaorua the back and forth like a swing. The warriors were starving and they were bubbling up with anger like a volcano getting ready to explode!
Finally, Kupe came up with a solution ‘’Let's trap that cheeky Te wheke in a cave!’’
Later that evening Kupe threw the calabashes at Te wheke to distract him. He then pounced on to Te wheke and smashed him between his eyes.
